About the role:

Are you passionate about climate change, sustainability and empowering organisations to transition to a low‑carbon, resilient future? Join our growing ESG & Climate Services team as a Senior Consultant II and play a key role in delivering high‑impact advisory and assurance work across Australia’s most important environmental and climate frameworks.

As a Senior Consultant II, you will lead and deliver ESG, climate and sustainability‑focused risk advisory engagements. You will work closely with managers and partners, mentor junior team members, and build strong relationships with clients across diverse sectors.

Your work will include on‑site fieldwork, technical analysis, advisory support and contributing to national‑level sustainability reporting and assurance frameworks. This role balances client leadership, technical depth and hands‑on project delivery.

Deliver high‑quality ESG, sustainability and climate-related assurance and consulting engagements, including:

  • Providing support on limited and reasonable assurance engagements under schemes such as:

    • Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme

    • National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS)

    • Safeguard Mechanism

    • Energy Savings Scheme (ESS)

    • Renewable Energy Target (RET)

    • Climate Active

  • Providing technical analysis for assurance engagements (e.g., ACCU vegetation audits), including reviewing ecological assessments, spatial data, abatement calculations and FullCAM modelling.

  • Advising clients on ESG and sustainability reporting under:

    • GRI

    • SDGs

    • IFRS Sustainability Standards

    • TCFD

  • Supporting clients to identify climate‑related risks and opportunities.

Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Manage and coordinate project teams, including training, mentoring and ensuring methodology compliance.

  • Plan and manage engagement budgets and resourcing.

  • Conduct risk reviews across diverse client environments and prepare comprehensive working papers.

  • Draft high‑quality reports and recommendations for Partner/Manager review.

  • Identify issues early and provide clear, practical solutions.

  • Support business development, presentations and client relationship management.

About you:

You are an experienced ESG practitioner with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a passion for climate and sustainability work.

Experience & Attributes

Essential

  • 4+ years’ experience in assurance or technical advisory—ideally in professional services or environmental/climate‑related industries

  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance, reporting frameworks and relevant legislation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and process‑mapping skills

  • Sound knowledge of governance, controls, risk management (incl. ISO 31000)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse project teams

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

Desirable

  • Experience with data analytics tools such as IDEA or ACL

  • Foreign language capability

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Science, Ecology or Forestry

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications

Desirable

  • Business/Commerce degree

  • CA qualification or equivalent
