We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Engineering Manager to join us in our Gas Power Solutions team in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Gas Power Solutions, you will provide a key role in leading all engineering activities as part of the development and delivery project team on your designated projects. Projects may encompass gas turbine or gas reciprocating engine assets delivered on an EPC / D&C or multi-contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead concept engineering, design, and technical solution development for gas fired power projects, ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, client requirements and internal processes.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, including FEED studies, specifications, datasheets, calculations, reports, and drawings.
  • Collaborate across business functions (i.e. pipelines, planning and approvals, grid connections, procurement, operations) aligning technical solutions to meet project goals.
  • Provide technical input into contract negotiations and business case development to support commercial outcomes.
  • Manage engineering deliverables from vendors and contractors and coordinate technical interfaces across multi-contract delivery models.
  • Support project delivery teams from FID through to commissioning and ensure smooth integration of new assets into APA’s operations team wider business functions.

Your background

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or equivalent experience
  • Relevant and proven industry experience in the design, procurement, and installation of gas fired power generation assets preferably in the Owners’ Engineer role
  • Capability to provide engineering expertise in your discipline and make sound engineering decisions for the successful delivery, reliability and longevity of new assets
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards and associated international reference standards
  • A working knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety legislative requirements
  • Chartered Professional Engineer, or Registered Professional Engineer Queensland, or eligible for registration by qualification or experience within 1 year

The Gas Power Solutions team forms part of the Infrastructure Delivery division in APA, responsible for the engineering and delivery of gas-powered generation projects across Australia with a focus on NEM and WEM connected assets.
