This role will require a people-focused professional who can provide technical direction, leadership and guidance to a high performing engineering team across multiple disciplines, including E&I, Process, Mechanical, Drafting and Structural engineering. The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who has proven experience in leading large teams and can deliver consistent quality results across multiple disciplines on multiple projects in parallel. 

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing strong leadership as a member of the Business Unit Leadership Team, reporting directly to the General Manager, and helping set the culture, priorities and operating rhythm of the team;
  • Leading the planning, resourcing and capability development of the engineering team to ensure it is well equipped to meet current and future business needs;
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing team members, including supporting career growth, succession planning and performance improvement;
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, seeking regular feedback, identifying opportunities for improvement, and working closely with clients to deliver practical and innovative engineering solutions;
  • Supporting business growth by identifying opportunities with existing and new clients, contributing to account management strategies, and helping position the business for future work;
  • Assisting in the development, implementation and continual improvement of systems, procedures and work practices to ensure engineering projects comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, company policies, client standards and project scope requirements;
  • Maintaining the technical integrity of the team by ensuring engineering methods, tools, checking processes, peer reviews and quality assurance activities meet or exceed required standards;
  • Providing leadership and direction on multidisciplinary engineering proposals and tenders, including scope definition, methodology, resourcing inputs, risk identification, pricing support and review of deliverables;
  • Evaluating, organising and prioritising team workloads to ensure effective utilisation of resources, timely project delivery and alignment with Business Unit objectives;

About You

To be successful you will have:

  • A recognised engineering degree, with 15+ years of relevant engineering experience;
  • A strong track record in leading and managing large multidisciplinary engineering teams in a consulting, EPCM, asset owner or project delivery environment;
  • Deep engineering knowledge within the Mining, Energy, Oil and Gas, or related industrial sectors;
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering projects, with a strong understanding of project execution, scheduling, budgets, commercial drivers and the end-to-end asset development lifecycle;
  • Strong people leadership capability, including team development, coaching, performance management and building a positive team culture;
  • Well-developed client relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes and support long-term business growth;
  • A strong understanding of the local market, including industry trends, client drivers and key contacts that can support business development activities;
  • Experience contributing to or leading engineering proposals, tenders and pursuits, with the ability to identify opportunities and help convert them into work;
