Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Manager, ESG Risk

What’s the role?

You’ll help shape how Westpac understands and manages sustainability risks, ensuring we’re well positioned to respond to changing expectations across climate, social and nature-related issues. Working within our Line 2 risk function, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening frameworks, policies and practices that guide how ESG risks are identified and managed across the Group.

You’ll partner closely with teams across the bank, including Group Sustainability and divisional ESG teams, providing trusted advice, oversight and constructive challenge. From contributing to deep-dive reviews of emerging risk themes to helping lift ESG risk capability across the business, your work will support better, more informed decision-making.

This is a permanent, full-time role ideally based Sydney (also open to Melbourne), with flexible working options available. If you’re motivated by long-term impact, enjoy working collaboratively, and want to influence how sustainability risk is managed at scale, you’ll find this role both rewarding and meaningful.

What do I need?

You’ll succeed in this role by bringing sound judgement, practical risk experience and a collaborative mindset. What will help you thrive includes:

  • Experience managing or advising on sustainability or ESG-related risks in a large complex organisation.
  • Exposure to topics such as climate risk, human rights or modern slavery, and nature or biodiversity risks.
  • An understanding of Australian regulatory or disclosure expectations relevant to sustainability risks.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and credibly.
  • Confidence building relationships and working across teams to influence positive outcomes.

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
