Associate Portfolio Manager - Sustainable Investment Public Markets

As an Associate Portfolio Manager - Sustainable Investment Public Markets, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of sustainable investment strategies across listed equities, fixed income and exposure management.

Working with investment specialists and stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll undertake complex research and analysis, provide strategic recommendations and help embed financially material sustainability considerations into investment decisions, manager practices and portfolio design.

You’ll have the opportunity to build trusted relationships, share meaningful insights and support the selection, appointment and ongoing monitoring of external and internal investment managers. Your contribution will help us build resilient portfolios that support the best financial interests of our members.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Day to day, you'll:

• Contribute to the development and execution of sustainable investment integration across public markets.
• Support the selection, appointment and ongoing monitoring of external investment managers.
• Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of sustainable investment integration strategies.
• Analyse external fund managers’ integration and stewardship activities, sharing meaningful insights with the team. 
• Engage with external investment managers to support alignment with ART’s sustainable investment approaches.
• Deliver timely research, complex analysis and recommendations that support investment strategy and decision-making.
• Prepare performance updates, reports and presentation materials for stakeholders at all levels.
• Build trusted relationships across the Investments business and support effective collaboration between teams.
• Support negotiations with external partners to achieve outcomes aligned with members’ best financial interests.
• Develop external networks and monitor industry developments, emerging issues and investment opportunities.
• Help the team meet its governance, compliance and risk management obligations.
• Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives, delivering high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.

• You hold relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally in finance, investments, commerce, economics, engineering or science.
• Your experience includes working within investments, financial services or another relevant investment domain.
• You’ll bring highly developed research and analytical capabilities, with the ability to turn complex information into practical insights.
• You’re familiar with relevant legislation, regulation, market trends, emerging issues and risk-reward considerations.
• You have strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills and enjoy working collaboratively.
• Your written and verbal communication skills enable you to present complex ideas clearly, including to senior stakeholders.
• You’ll be comfortable balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• You’re confident using relevant investment systems and bring careful attention to detail.
• You may have experience in sustainable investment, international investment markets or financial modelling.
• Your knowledge may include valuation principles, legal document review or investment agreement considerations.
• You’ll bring strategic and creative thinking, with the confidence to identify opportunities and recommend solutions.
• You’re able to support, supervise or mentor junior team members when required.
