IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.
The Engineering Manager is a critical leadership role within IREN’s Australian operations, responsible for leading and integrating a multidisciplinary engineering function that underpins the design, delivery, and operational performance of IREN’s large-scale, renewable-powered data centres. This role brings together deep technical expertise across electrical, high voltage, mechanical, civil/structural, controls, and asset management disciplines to ensure IREN’s Australian data centre portfolio is delivered and operated safely, sustainably, and to the highest standard.
With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.
Requirements

- Registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or eligibility and commitment to attain registration within an agreed time frame.
- 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including significant time leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale capital projects in mission-critical, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience in data centre, energy, utilities, or heavy infrastructure sectors, with familiarity across electrical (HV/MV/LV), mechanical, civil/structural, controls, and commissioning scopes.
- Strong understanding of Australian standards and regulatory frameworks applicable to data centres and critical infrastructure, including AS/NZS standards, NCC (National Construction Code), WHS legislation, and state-specific electrical and building codes.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop senior engineers and technical leads across multiple disciplines simultaneously.
- Experience managing engineering delivery through EPC contractors, specialist consultants, and OEM vendors, including technical review, governance, and risk management.
- Familiarity with asset management principles, DCIM tools, building automation systems (BAS), and data centre infrastructure management; experience with CMMS platforms is desirable.
- Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, FAT/SAT processes, energization readiness, and structured handover to operations.
- Demonstrated capability in technical risk identification, change management, and executive-level reporting across complex, multi-stakeholder programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders.
- Self-driven, highly organised, and capable of managing competing priorities across multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Flexible approach to working hours to support IREN’s multi-time-zone, global operations; willingness to travel to Australian site locations and, occasionally, internationally as required.
